Recipe

  • 6 ounces of steak (can substitute chicken, shrimp, or salmon)

  • 1.5-2 handfuls of organic spring mix

  • 1-2 tbsp blue cheese crumbles

  • 4 mushrooms sautéed with coconut oil or organic grass-fed butter

  • 1 green onion, chopped

  • Dressing: drizzle balsamic vinaigrette with olive oil

  • Season with salt and pepper

Nutritional Benefits

Everyone loves a good salad, especially on a hot summer day. This steak salad is satisfying, nutritious, and delicious! It has high amounts of protein and healthy fats.

The steak (and other red meat) provides our bodies high branched chain amino acids, or BCAAs. These are the building blocks of protein that encourage our muscles to build and repair. Athletes can quickly reverse the breakdown of muscle by consuming amino acids post-exercise, which reduces recovery time and allows for more intense workouts at their next training session.

Along with the benefits of the steak, grass-fed butter has more nutritional value than commercial-grade butter because commercial feed often includes GMO corn and soy, grains, hormones, antibiotics, and vegetable oil byproducts, which are very high the inflammatory fat Omega 6. Furthermore, making your own dressing is by far the best option. With homemade dressing, you can control what is going into your body, unlike store-bought dressings that are loaded with sugar, preservatives, processed and refined oils, and artificial flavors and colors.

This salad is the perfect option for a healthy meal! It tastes better than fast-food, and your body will be much more satisfied.
