At ALTIUS, we want our athletes to move extremely well and to be resilient to injury.  We do not only make athletes move through drills, we teach them how to move, and sequentially and systematically teach our athletes the "why" behind the drills.  If we can do this at a young age, we can instill GREAT habits that build resiliency and character.  Great habits have the potential to not only be a strong foundation of performance, but also an unshakable foundation for life.  

ALTIUS Youth Athletic Performance sessions are geared primarily for our younger athletes (ages 9-12). Sessions begin with a fun dynamic warm-up, followed by focused strength, speed, and movement mechanics to develop functional strength and explosive power to become a faster, stronger and more resilient athlete.

BENEFITS OF YOUTH ATHLETIC PERFORMANCE

When developing young athletes, it's important to recognize the many benefits of both athletic training and mentorship. Athletic training provides essential skills and discipline for excelling in sports that can significantly enhance a young athlete's development. Mentorship develops character, integrity, work ethic, coachability, leadership, teamwork, perseverance and resiliency.  Here are several compelling reasons why incorporating athletic camps into your youth's athletic regimen is a great idea.

HOLISTIC SKILL DEVELOPMENT

Sport-specific skills training involves developing specific skills for a particular sport, while performance training offers a wider variety of activities aimed at improving overall athleticism. Our Youth Athletic Performance sessions include diverse drills, games, and activities to enhance coordination, agility, endurance, and strength. This holistic approach can assist athletes in acquiring new athleticism and resiliency to complement their primary sport.

EXPOSURE TO NEW COACHING STYLES

Coaches bring different perspectives, techniques, and strategies to the table. Attending athletic performance sessions helps young athletes learn from various coaching styles and methods, making them more adaptable and receptive to different approaches as they progress through different levels of competition.

INCREASED MOTIVATION AND CONFIDENCE

Our Youth Athletic Performance Sesssions include motivation and encouragement from highly-certified trainers and physical therapists who were successful athletes themselves.  We do hard things together to inspire and build confidence. Being in a stimulating environment surrounded by peers with similar aspirations can significantly boost a young athlete's self-esteem and passion for their sport. This motivation can lead to improved performance within sport. 

NETWORKING AND FRIENDSHIP BUILDING

Group sessions bring together young people from various backgrounds and  foster a sense of community and accountability. Forming connections with peers who share similar interests and goals can provide emotional support, create lasting memories, and develop teamwork skills. Building relationships with other athletes and coaches can also open doors to future opportunities in sports.

CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT

Altius Performance sessions emphasize important life skills such as character development, work ethic, coachability, teamwork, leadership, perseverance, and resilience. The group session environment often presents challenges that require problem-solving, strategic thinking, and effective communication. These experiences are crucial for personal growth and character development, both on and off the field.

LEARNING TO OVERCOME CHALLENGES

Our sessions are designed to push athletes out of their comfort zones through intensive training sessions, competitive games, and skill challenges. Overcoming challenges helps young athletes develop mental toughness and a growth mindset, teaching them to embrace obstacles as opportunities for improvement.

SPORTS ARE FUN!!!

While training can sometimes become monotonous, Altius sessions infuse fun, excitement, and unending encouragement into the athletic experience. Through varied activities and social interactions with our staff and with peers, we ensure that young athletes remain engaged, see observable growth and enjoy their athletic pursuits. This balance between hard work and enjoyment is crucial for maintaining long-term interest in sports.

IMPROVED PHYSICAL CONDITIONING

We do hard things.  But we make these hard things fun!  The intensive nature of Altius programs can lead to significant improvements in physical conditioning.   The rigorous training sessions, combined with proper nutrition and rest, ensure that athletes return to their regular training routines in better shape, enhancing their overall performance.

PREPARATION FOR HIGHER-LEVEL COMPETITION

For young athletes aspiring to compete at higher levels, our sessions aim to 1. establish a solid foundation in which to build upon and 2. simulate the competitive environment of college or professional sports. Our staff is composed of former collegiate athletes who understand the demands of the next level.  We expose our athletes to higher standards, sequentially advanced drills, and competitive games to prepare our young athletes for the demands of the next level.
